Wojtek – was a Syrian brown bear bought, as a young cub, at a railway station in Hamadan, Iran, by Polish II Corps soldiers who had been evacuated from the Soviet Union. In order to provide for his rations and transportation, he was eventually enlisted officially as a soldier with the rank of private, and was subsequently promoted to corporal.
From Egypt, the Polish II Corps was reassigned to fight alongside the British Eighth Army in the Italian campaign. Regulations for the British transport ship, which was to carry them to Italy, forbade mascot and pet animals. To get around this restriction, Wojtek was officially drafted into the Polish Army as a private and listed among the soldiers of the 22nd Artillery Supply Company. Henryk Zacharewicz and Dymitr Szawlugo were assigned as his caretakers. A standard 25-pounder ammunition crate, which held four shells.
As an enlisted soldier with his own paybook, rank, and serial number, he lived with the other men in tents or in a special wooden crate, which was transported by truck. During the Battle of Monte Cassino, Wojtek helped his unit to convey ammunition by carrying 100-pound (45 kg) crates of 25-pound artillery shells, never dropping any of them. While this story generated controversy over its accuracy, at least one account exists of a British soldier recalling seeing a bear carrying crates of ammo. The bear mimicked the soldiers: when he saw the men lifting crates, he copied them. Wojtek carried boxes that normally required 4 men, which he would stack onto a truck or other ammunition boxes. This service at Monte Cassino earned him promotion to the rank of corporal. In recognition of Wojtek’s popularity, a depiction of a bear carrying an artillery shell was adopted as the official emblem of the 22nd Company
All Wojtek LEGAL vehicles, as manufactured, are approved for use on bike paths and public roads in Poland and EU
Wojtek Electric Bikes intended for use on cycle paths and public roads – depending on the version, have a nominal voltage of 48V (Poland) or 60V and have a manufacturer installed nominal power limiter. The value of the nominal power limiter is dependent on the destination country in which the vehicle is to be used.
By ordering a Wojtek vehicle, you can be assured that your vehicle will meet all the legislative requirements of an EU country of your choice.
By default, Wojtek vehicles have pedal assistance up to 25km/h or other compliant with national regulations, and do not have a thumb throttle.
Vehicles with thumb throttle are not allowed to ride on bike paths in Poland, however since you will be ready to travel the world on Wojtek LEGAL/LEGAL+ branded vehicles, each vehicle has a thumb throttle extension/connector on the handlebars to make it easier for you to install thumb throttle if you ride your ebike in a country where thumb throttle use is legal.
All Wojtek vehicles can be customized to fit the regulations of a specific country. When ordering a Wojtek vehicle, please let us know in which country the vehicle will be operated so that we can make sure it will comply with the regulations of the country in which you are located.

All Nitro vehicles feature a thumb throttle. Motorcycle-style twist grip throttles are not fitted for safety reasons (on each vehicle maximum torque is available immediately from 0 km/h).
The Wojtek Nitro is a non-homologated vehicle intended for off-road riding only, e.g. forest, fields, meadows, mountains and private land.
All vehicles in the Nitro series are designed for people who prioritize acceleration and top speed over maximum range on a single charge.
When choosing a Nitro Series vehicle, determine exactly where you want to go with it. If you have experience in motocross – let us know, it will help us match the equipment to your riding style.
The Nitro version differs from the Nitro+ in features such as front and rear suspension and electric motor technology.

Vmax with limiter – maximum speed of the vehicle with electronic speed limiter engaged. The value of electronic speed limiter is set for the market/country in which the vehicle is to operate in accordance with current regulations for electric vehicles such as ebike, epedelec or moped
Vmax – the maximum speed of the vehicle without the electronic speed limiter measured with a fully charged battery – on flat terrain, in windless weather, at 15°C and with a 75 kg rider. The maximum speed of the Ultimate version of the vehicle is achieved under “ideal conditions” when measured on a load dynamometer test stand. According to our experience and measurements, due to air resistance and aerodynamics it is difficult for this vehicle to exceed 140km/h on tracks designed for this purpose.
Acceleration 0-50km/h – acceleration obtained during the measurement with a fully charged battery – on flat terrain, in windless weather, with temperature of 15°C and rider’s weight of 75 kg. The measurement value is obtained from the combined mean of the GPS measurement and the measurement based on the engine Hall sensors. The acceleration value may slightly differ in real world conditions and it depends only on the driving ability of the user. Acceleration value for Fat Bear Ulltimate is approximate because we lack the ability to ride this vehicle and get a consistent and repeatable result (and not to hurt ourselves).
Range – realistic range value given for each vehicle type. Minimum range is the minimum range you can achieve by riding practically all the time in the upper battery load range. The maximum range is given when travelling at a speed of up to 25km/h using a traditional propulsion system and an electric motor in the form of pedal assistance. In both cases range is measured from a fully charged battery – on flat terrain, in windless weather and with temperature of 15°C and rider weight of 75kg.
